I have seen a number of posts recently proclaiming the use of hydrogen peroxide in nebulizers and for drinking. I started to say that I had seen an alarming number of posts because I was alarmed and could not sleep and decided to get up and make another post.

A Healthline article describes “food grade” hydrogen peroxide as 35% peroxide and 65% water. It is food grade in part because it does not contain acetanilide, phenol, sodium stanate , or tetrasodium pyrophosphate which are used as stabilizers in medical grade hydrogen peroxide.

The designation of food grade means that it can be used around food and food preparation areas not that it can be used as food. It is useful in killing bacteria, fungi and viruses so it can be used to cleans food and food preparation areas such as counter tops according to Dr. Sarah Pickering Beers MD. She also warns that you need to be careful not to get it on clothing or furniture because it will bleach them.

Inhaling food grade hydrogen peroxide can cause sore throat, cough, nausea, dizziness, headache, and shortness of breath.

Healthline also states that a number of alternative medicine sites are promoting the use of food-grade hydrogen peroxide as a cure for many ailments including cancer, diabetes, lupus, and other ailments. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/drinking-hydrogen-peroxide
