As we learned in an earlier post, inflammation is the body’s reaction to an injury that sometimes goes off track and causes problems as we age. According to WebMD, there are things that we can do to lessen the negative outcomes of inflammation.
The list looks like this:
- Get 7-9 hours of quality sleep by setting a consistent bedtime and wake up time.
- Get at least 20 minutes of moderate exercise such as walking per day.
- Spice it up with turmeric, rosemary, cinnamon, cumin, and ginger.
- Intermittent fasting by setting eating hours between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- Eat your greens which include collards, broccoli, kale, and spinach.
- Destress by using meditation, controlled breathing, and Yoga.
- Go easy on the alcohol.
- Trade out red meats, and fried foods for fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, and fish.
- Shed excess weight.
- Drink Green Tea.
- Stop Smoking
The article goes on to say that chronic inflammatory disease (CID) can cause the body to overreact and in some cases attack itself. You may feel dizzy or off-balance from the effects of CID.
I would like to think that if we follow these great suggestions that we could end the inflammation in our bodies without the use of drugs, but for those of us with arthritis, or chronic bronchitis, or chronic gastroenteritis we find that these steps alone cannot end the devastation caused by inflammation. We must lean on our medical team for relief.
