I have not posted for over a month due to my health situation. I will give you the down and dirty version of what happened to me. The whole thing started 2 months prior to the hospitalization. First, I went to the doctor and told him that I had a croupy sounding cough that would not go away and that it felt like I had something just beyond reach in my chest that needed to come up. I was put on an antibiotic and Mucinex. All seemed better for a while and then my heart rate and oxygen saturation started going bonkers. I went back to the doctor and was put on an antibiotic and Prednisone. Prednisone taper looked like this, 60mg for 5 days and then cut by ½ every 2 days. I felt much better except for being exhausted from what I though was the Prednisone.
Fast forward and I was taken by ambulance to the hospital with oxygen in the low eighties and a heartrate of over 149 or higher. I was given a breathing treatment in the ambulance that brought my oxygen to the low nineties but shot my heartrate to over two hundred
I was diagnosed with ARD (acute respiratory distress) caused by noncovid pneumonia. I had done work for the DOD a few years ago which was on ARD and ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome). I was told that the reason that it was not ARDS is that I had not progressed to full-fledged sepsis. I was in the stage of go to the nearest ER as quickly as possible.
I was hospitalized for 8 days and would have been sent to a rehabilitation facility upon release had I not had wonderful neighbors and friends who looked after me at home. I will continue my saga as days go by and I can get the information straight in my head.
