The heart lung connection is a very complicated one. We know that it is the job of the lungs to bring oxygen and blood in contact with one another so that the blood can carry the oxygen to our cells. If something is wrong with the lungs or with the blood itself it can cause our hearts to beat faster. Our hearts beating faster can cause our breathing to become faster and more shallow thus bringing in less oxygen and so we start a cycle that can end up being a panic attack.

One of the things that alerted my physician to the fact that I was anemic was my misshaped red blood cells. They were attempting to increase their surface area in an attempt to carry more oxygen. Our bodies are amazing and if we have a desire to be healthy and to live a productive life, our bodies will go to great lengths to accommodate.
