For a couple of days this week I was battling gastroenteritis issues and chose to lay around for two days with no exercise. Rest is one of the things that helps bring an end to this issue and help it not develop into something worse. I know what is happening when I feel those sharp pains emanating from my navel. 

As we age, we learn to pay attention to some not-so-pleasant things. One of which is monitoring the size of the stool. I can usually avoid going into gastroenteritis by drinking more water and increasing the amount of roughage in my diet. For whatever reason I did not accomplish the desired results. So, this led me to the next line of defense which was resting. I am told by a friend who once was a pharmacy salesperson that bed rest used to be the only remedy. 

This morning I felt it was time to resume exercise. About halfway through the first set of my high intensity training (HIT) workout it felt like I came back to life. 

So now I am going to “lace up for lungs” while I do some grocery shopping.
